Five Steps to Working Together

From the first meeting to regular monthly reviews.

01

Setup Meeting

We meet to understand your business, what you need from your accounting and what is working today.

02

Scope and Fees Agreed

We confirm the proposed scope, fees and next steps before any work begins.

03

Business Walk-Through

Over the first one to two weeks we review your org chart, walk through how the business runs and agree which records are needed and how they will be shared.

04

Reports, Explained

Each month we prepare your reports and go through them with you: what the numbers are and what they mean for the business.

05

An Improvement List

Each review ends with a short, manageable list of improvements, looking at expenses, revenue, margins and financing, including recurring costs such as utilities, phone and software.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about getting started and working together.

Getting startedWhat happens at the first consultation?

We discuss your business, current accounting arrangements and the services you need. We then confirm the proposed scope, fees and next steps, including any records or account access required.

FeesHow are your fees determined?

Fees are quoted for each engagement and sized to your business. They depend on the services you need, the volume of transactions and the condition of your records: clean monthly statements take less work than a year of receipts in a box. We agree fees before work begins and discuss any additional work with you first.

Your informationHow will our financial information be handled?

We discuss document sharing and account access before work begins. This includes what information is needed, who will need access and how records should be provided.

Getting startedWho will I work with?

You work directly with the accountant who reviews your reports and advises you, and with our bookkeeper, who keeps your records current between reviews.

Getting startedDo you work with businesses outside Edmonton?

Yes. Ebert CPA is based in Edmonton and serves businesses across Alberta. We discuss meeting arrangements and any on-site work as part of the engagement.
